WHAT IF I JOIN?

[Living History]

Interested in joining the Sealed Knot? Congratulations, you’ve come to the right place! Gerard’s Regiment (also known as “Budgies” on account of our blue and yellow uniform) are a very friendly bunch. With individuals and families from a very wide range of backgrounds, based across England and Wales, you can be sure of a very warm welcome and all the support you need to get started in this wonderful hobby.

What do you want to do?

When you join the regiment, you’ll have the opportunity to try all the arms and activities before finding your niche. There’s something for everyone and all roles are open to both men and women. As well as the fighting arms of pike and musket, we crew our own cannon. We have non-combatant roles in our growing drum corps and baggage train. Many members also regularly participate in Living History activities where they get a chance to interact more closely with the public, demonstrating old crafts, cookery, arms and armour, or the ever-popular “sleeping soldier” art installation. Children must be 16 before they can go on the battlefield. However, we operate a fully supervised “Apprentices at Arms” group. Attendance is voluntary and it allows youngsters to get a small taste of the real thing and to participate in scripted cameos if they wish.
